Entries for the Food Valley Award 2016 can now be sent in. This prize is presented annually for innovative applications in the Dutch agrifood, feed and horticultural sector. Previous winners and nominees claim both national and international commercial benefits, even years after the award ceremony. NanoNextNL works on the Food theme in association with the initiator of the Food Valley Award, Food Valley NL.
Innovative and economically viable
An independent panel of professional judges assesses the entries in terms of innovative character and economic viability. Entries for the 12th edition of the Food Valley Award must be submitted before 15 May 2016. More information about participation and the relevant criteria can be found at www.foodvalleyaward.nl.

Biobased Coffee Capsules – (Peeze Coffee Roasters winner 2015)
Biobased Coffee Capsules, a compostable single-serve coffee capsule filled with fair-trade Arabica coffee. The capsule developed by Peeze Coffee Roasters and ATI (Advanced Technology Innovations) is a sustainable alternative for existing single-serve coffee capsules. The entire capsule and the foil used to seal it are made of polylactic acid (PLA), a biobased compostable material. The capsules contain premium Arabica coffee that is certified climate-neutral, organic and fair trade. It is a product with great market potential, as coffee drinkers worldwide use 14 billion capsules per year.
